Kayex develops and manufactures crystal
growing equipment for the semiconductor and photovoltaic
(solar) materials industry.
Kayex serves these industries by supplying production equipment
for single crystal materials such as:
- silicon
- germanium
- gallium arsenide
These
materials are produced in our Kayex HAMCO and FX (formerly Ferrofluidics)
high yield crystal growing furnaces. The crystals are later sliced
into thin wafers and often polished. The wafers become the starting
materials for semiconducting devices such as integrated circuits,
discrete devices, and photovoltaic (solar) cells.
Kayex produces a family of high-temperature crystal growing furnaces
utilizing the Czochralski, or CZ, method, in which the highly pure
material is melted, and a seed crystal is dipped into the molten
material and made to grow. The crystal increases in size as the
seed is slowly raised from the melt. Thus the crystal growing furnace
is often called a "crystal puller."
High quality, production-ready, fairly priced crystal growing products
and superior after sale service have become hallmarks of our success.
But another attribute stands out: the ability to uniquely engineer
our products to exacting requirements while protecting proprietary
customer technology. Our wide range of products and leadership position
are largely attributable to our continuing research and development
programs.
Kayex is uniquely positioned to serve the expanding Asian wafer
industry with our manufacturing joint venture operation, Kayex Zheda,
in Hangzhou, China. Since 1997, our partner, the Zhejiang University
Machine Factory, has enabled Kayex Zheda to supply the Chinese market
with premium quality Kayex crystal pullers, and enabled Kayex to
supply the world with cost-competitive equipment.
